Project's purpose is to develop electronic data exchange for national and international transportation of goods by road.
At a meeting of the Transport Committee of the UN economic Commision for EUROPE (UNECE) back in 2008 an additional protocol was signed on Electronic Consignment Notes (e-CMR). A protocol came into effect on 5th of June in 2011 and it was acceded by several European countries like France, Spain, Sweeden, Swiss, Finland, Netherlands, etc.

The purpose of this project is to standardise and harmonize electronic consignment notes data exchange between carrier of goods, sender and recipient. Such electronic message shall be considered as electronic contract of carriage of goods by road. In accordance with the provisions of the Protocol mentioned above it shall facilitate further interaction with other modes of transport. The ultimate purpose is to make the supply chain paperless and digitized which means cheaper and efficient interactions. Furthermore the goods will be easily traceable.

Electronic consignment note is mainly used for national transporation of goods because it is not possible to carry out the entire route if at least one of the involving countries has not adopted an agreement on electronic data exchange. The first ever border crossing transportation with e-CMR was made between Spain and France. The journey of 1.300 km started in Huelva (Spain) and ended up in the city Perpignan (France). The border between the two countries was crossed at the border crossing at Le Perthus.

Transbook as for now, enables you to create electronic document but e-CMR data exchange between other parties is not yet possible. E-CMR data exchange will be suported by Transbook as soon as e-CMR messages gets standardised and harmonized.
